![]() ![]() got into some “activities” that weren’t approved by the United States government, (overthrowing Latveria’s government with super heroes who were mind-wiped afterwards as seen in 2004’s SECRET WAR), and was forced into hiding. HOW DID SHE BECOME DIRECTOR OF S.H.I.E.L.D.? And Jessica Jones was the one to crack the mystery. Fury Sr., now Director, handed her a pill that would make her “completely lose the last few days,” but before taking it, she put a hit on herself that would go into effect the minute she became a civilian again. Completing the kill order led to Maria being promoted to S.H.I.E.L.D. Why? Because Bradley (and Reynolds) were Hydra triple agents! She succeeded in her mission but experienced immense guilt and a conflict of beliefs, as “killing fellow agents” was not the reason she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. ![]() In JESSICA JONES #12 it was revealed that Fury assigned Maria a kill order against Bradley. And here’s where the real craziness kicks in. This moment would prompt the tribunal to contact Nick Fury Sr., who was a colonel at the time. But this rescue went wrong very quickly.īecause Maria disregarded Reynolds’ command during the escape, her conduct was questioned by a tribunal, but in the end, Maria was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing. As told in flashback via JESSICA JONES (2016) #11, in one of her earlier missions she was tasked with saving Agents Bradley and Reynolds, who had gone undercover into Hydra for months. Working with the Ex: Coulson must work alongside Lola in the first arc. After serving in the Marines and being promoted to commander, Maria became an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.We Named the Monkey "Jack": Coulson named his car "Lola" in reference to his ex.The Mole: Part of the pitch for the comic is dealing with internal threats, and the preview revealed a mole on the team, who happens to be Fitz."Unintended Consequences" isn't the first time Grant Ward has been shown killing Phil Coulson's love interest.Ironically, prior to the comic starting Daisy in the show went through a make-over to look more like her comic counterpart by sporting shorter hair. Daisy has had a mild redesign to resemble Chloe Bennet, her actress in the show (rather than Daisy's original inspiration, Angelina Jolie in Hackers) now sporting long hair and being less Ambiguously Brown (Chloe, and Daisy in the show, are both half-Asian).Fun with Acronyms: Lola, Coulson's car, stands for Low- Orbit Liftoff Automobile.Canon Immigrant: This comic introduces the 616 version of Grant Ward.Mockingbird was previously a Badass Normal but recieved a super-powered upgrade into a Badass Abnormal, while Quake is an Inhuman spy, and Deathlok is a zombie cyborg super-soldier. Badass Normal: May and Coulson are the only combatants who aren't enhanced.Amusingly, this isn't even the same Deathlok, as the show used an original character and the comic is using the recently introduced Henry Hayes. Deathlok didn't appear at all, but was a reccuring supporting figure in the show, but here he's one of the headlining characters (and is front and centre of the first issue's cover). The previous volume only featured Quake and Mockingbird in guest roles, the former appearing three times and the latter once, but now they're regular staples. ![]() Hunter will appear in Mockingbird's ongoing fulfilling the same role he did in the show, though.
